Bian-Que explained the 153 problems and correct the mistakes in "Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine", take only the "Cun-opening pulse method" and wrote it as "Nan Jing - the Difficult Issues". This article excerpted the central contents of the eight chapters included Chapter 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 55th, 56th, 57th, and 59th, distribute the contents of Chapter 18 to the above chapters, to fully explain the essence of "Nan-Jing". First, clarify the structure of the "Cun-opening pulse method": Guan-line is the boundary that separates Yin and Yang, the front section in one-tenth(九分) of forearm is floating pulse which represents the dynamic of the Yang; the latter section after an inch of forearm is the sunken pulse which represents the dynamic of the Yin. With the floating, middle and sunken pulses, find out Guan-line and set the three parts of Cun, Guan and Chi. The three parts (Cun, Guan and Chi) respectively correspond to the upper, middle and lower parts of the torso, each has Yin and Yang. And with these, 12 meridians are determined. With the method of light pressing and heavy pressing, the floating or sunken of Cun, Guan, Chi is determined, and with the changes of floating, middle and sunken pulses, nine subdivision are diagnosed. Then, discuss the pulses of the three parts in both hands are all of the same pattern, or are different. The floating or sunken, long or short, slippery or rough, are relative concepts of pulses that can be grouped into groups. It is clear as slow or rapid indicates speed, floating or sunken indicates location, long or short indicates shape, slippery or rough indicates state. After that, discuss abdominal examination to diagnose symptoms of the five internal organs, to differentiate the types of lumps, locations, shapes, viscera, Yin or Yang, floating and sunken, root, dynamic, pulse method and causes of diseases. At last, discuss about the diagnose of mental illness: hysteria or depression, both roots on the imbalance of Yin and Yang, hot and cold, lead to the illness of both spirit and emotion. The ability of Chinese medicine is to treat the above diseases through the Yin Meridian and Yang Meridian. Bian-Que elaborated "Nan-Jing" with the main points of ""Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine", "Nan-Jing" is actually a book about diagnostic methods. What difficulties does it take for Chinese Medicine Doctors to follow the study of "Nan- Jing"? Because of the profound of "Nan-Jing", I would like to transcend while inherits the foundation of the predecessors, in the hopes of enriching Chinese medicine and treating more people.
