Primary amenorrhea is when females over the age of 18 have not had an onset of menarche. Secondary amenorrhea is when after the onset of menarche menstruation ceases for three consecutive months or more. It is important to differentiate between amenorrhea and early pregnancy in diagnosis. Besides using Western methods to identify diseases, one can include traditional concepts such as cold and heat, vacuity and repletion in order to further the process of identifying patterns and determine treatment, and in addition combine treatment with cycle therapy to achieve desired results.
