The continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is one widely-used treatment modality in the world. Owing to the characteristics of slow and steady, the CRRT helps patients with acute kidney injury or end-stage renal disease to maintain fluid balance and solute clearance, with fewer effects on the hemodynamic stability. This article reviews recent guidelines and relevant studies, and briefly summarizes the basic concepts, prescription guideline and time points of initiation and ending of the CRRT.
