Traditional Chinese medicine has developed its own comprehensive system for traditional reproductive health in gynecology from ancient times to the present. However, during the late Qing Dynasty, the influx of Western knowledge brought attention and discussion to issues related to women's menstruation, fertility, health, and care, resulting in a situation starkly different from traditional Chinese medicine practices. This study aims to explore how modern Chinese gynecology, under the impact of Western medicine, has utilized Western medical knowledge to reconstruct the traditional Chinese knowledge of blood nourishment for women. It delves into the transformation and evolution of gynecological medicine in traditional Chinese medicine, examining the phenomenon of combining traditional Chinese medical terminology with Western medical concepts. This showcases a process of reimagining traditional knowledge and aims to further investigate Angelica Sinensis as an example in women's health.
