According to the definition of Premature Ovarian Failure (POF) by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), it refers to amenorrhea or irregular menstruation for more than four consecutive cycles in women of childbearing age before the age of 40, with FSH >25 mIU/ml on two occasions >4 weeks apart. In addition, patients with POF are often observed to have decreased anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) level and decreased antral follicle count (AFC). The etiology of primary premature ovarian failure is currently unknown, and western medical treatment mainly focused on hormonal therapy. This case report is a 39-year-old woman, G1P1, who began to have irregular menstruation after giving birth to her first child. With subsequent failed attempts to conceive for more than a year, she visited our infertility clinic where she was diagnosed with POF. She received clomid treatment but the result was unsatisfied. Thus, she was referred to the Chinese Medicine Gynecology Clinic and received integrated treatment with both Western and Chinese medicines.
