醫學生的通識教育-台大醫學院推展通識教育的經驗與規劃

Liberal Education for Medical Students: Experience and Perspective from National Taiwan University College of Medicine

摘要


醫學生是下一代醫師的儲備人才,隨各種醫學資訊的快速累積與社會多元性的發展,整體醫療環境日新月異,社會人群對醫療專業的期望也愈高。如何培養與創造下一世紀所需的醫療專業人才,是醫療教育改革的重點。 台大醫學院積極推動醫學教育改革,朝向統合性、啟發性、解決問題導向性的小組教學努力。第一階段改革的重點在後五年的專業教育;而第二階段的重點將著力於發展醫學教育中人文與社會科學方面的課程,配合總區通識教育工作的發展,以期醫學生發展出獨立思辯、分析判斷的能力,及充份自覺的主體意識。 現代醫學生所需的通識教育有五個方向:「身心二元論」與醫學哲學基礎、社會性與人道主義的強調、醫療的團隊合作、科際整合、及藝術、美感經驗的培養。台大醫學院通識教育課程的規畫也朝向這五個方向來設計,以期培養切合現代社會需求的下一代醫療工作者。

Medical students today are tomorrow's physicians. Due to the rapid accumulation of various medical information and the diversity of social development, medical environment has been changing constantly and social demand for professional medical care has reached a new peak. The major goal of today's medical educations is to develop and create medical professionals for the society need in next century. National Taiwan University College of Medicine (NTUCM) has been active in medical education reform, the reform emphasis on the development of integrated, inspiring and problem-solving oriented small group teaching. Step one of this reform emphasis on the renew of professional education offered in the last five years of medical school study. Step two emphasis on the development of medical education curriculum with humanistic and social character. In compliance with the implementation of general education curriculum at the main campus of National Taiwan University (NTU), this education reform intends to create medical students with independent thinking, analytic judgment ability and self conscious on the main purpose of medical education. Liberal education courses for today's medical student need to follow following five directions, 1. biopsycho theory and medical philosophy foundation, 2. social and humanistic characters, 3. medical team cooperation, 4. discipline integration and 5. development of art and beauty senses. The design of liberal education curriculum at NTUCM has followed these five directions, we hope they will help graduate medical professionals to fulfill the need of modern society.
