Cleft lip and cleft palate are the most common congential anomalies. It occurred in approximately 1 .12 of every 1000 new-born infants in the Taiwan.Some etiologic factors can be traced to:(1) environ-mental factor, (2) chromosomal abnormalies, (3) Combined of environmental and chromosomal factors (4) unknow cause.The comprehesive management of child born with cleft lip and palate is best accomplished by the multidisplinary team approach. Nursing care plays an important role on the team who is working closely with medi-cal and allied health specialities in an effect to benefit this demanding patient.
