Neurofibromas are not common in the oral region. We report a neurofibroma of the tongue in a 31-year-old woman. She complained of a painless mass on the right ventral tongue for 4 months. Complete excision was performed and no recurrence has been noted over a 15-month follow-up period. Although neurofibromas are rare in the tongue, they should be included in the differential diagnosis. Histopathologically, it is imperative to differentiate neurofibromas from neurilemmomas with the former showing much greater propensity for malignant transformation. Complete excision is the treatment of choice for neurofibromas.
