抗議作家的皇民文學-楊逵戰爭期小說評述

Kuo-Ming Literature of a Protest Writer-The Research of Yang Kwei's Novels during World War Ⅱ

摘要


楊逵是日本殖民時期臺灣新文學家中最被學界稱頌的一位,研究者多將其視爲賴和以來臺灣「抗議文學」最重要的代表人物。所謂「抗議文學」與「皇民文學」是學界對於日治時代臺灣新文學的分類法:對日本殖民當局採取抗爭的姿態,作品中展現不屈服的氣節者稱之爲「抗議文學」;而「皇民文學」則是對於殖民政府採取順服姿態,呼應日本國策,並爲其做宣傳的文學作品。據此,小說文類亦可分爲「抗議小說」與「皇民小說」。本文主旨在於研究楊逵小說與「皇民文學」之關係,兼論「抗議文學」與「皇民文學」之評價問題。並希望藉由楊逵文學創作之研究,提醒學界注意:這樣的二分法不僅有其局限性,甚且因研究角度的不同,同一篇作品可能產生既是「抗議文學」又是「皇民文學」,兩種自相矛盾的解讀方式。

Most researchers praise Yang Kwei, a Taiwanese writer during the Japanese Occupation period. Yang Kwei is held to be the most important writer since Lai Her who created ”Protest Literature”. ”Protest Literature” and ”Kuo-Ming Literature” are two different kinds of Taiwanese Literature during the Japanese Occupation Period. To resist the colonial policies of Japan and never surrender is called ”Protest Literature”. Surrendering to Japanese colonial policies and promoting them is called ”Kou-Ming Literature”. As a result, Taiwanese novels can be classified as ”Protest Novels” and ”Kou-Ming Novels”. The keynote of this paper is to research the relation between Yang Kwei's novels and Kou-Ming Literature and also to discuss the evaluation of ”Kou-Ming Literature” and ”Protest Literature”. I hope this will remind us that this dichotomy has its own limitations. If we study and research writing from different perspectives, the same text may be Kou-Ming Literature and Protest Literature. This is contradictory. The value of literature is not decided by the writer's cultural identity.
