Auricular pseudocyst is an asymptomatic, usually unilateral cystic swelling of the upper anthelix of the ear, resulting from the accumulation of fluid within an unlined intracartilaginous cavity. The etiology is still unknown. However, numerous therapeutic approaches had been used with a variety of successful rate in the past. Twenty-two patients with pseudocyst of the auricle were treated at the Department of Otolaryngology of the Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital, Taipei, from June 1992 to June 1994. There were 20 males and 2 females. The age at onset ranged from 22 to 56 years. The history of the cysts before clinical diagnosis was about 1 to 2 weeks. In this report, we performed the surgical procedure that includes techniques of “incision and drainage” of the auricular pseudocyst, “through and through suture” and “tie-over compression”. The method is simple to perform. It has produced a satisfactory cosmetic result with no complication after two to six months follow-up
