僧史家贊寧對高僧遺身爭議的詮釋

從宗教行爲的角度來看,僧傳中最具宗教情操,讀之最能引起讀者強烈宗教情感共鳴的篇章,應該是爲法忘軀的遺身之行。本文以《宋高僧傳•遺身篇》爲討論範圍,深入探討遺身現象及其宗教行爲的意義,並以慧皎、道宣的遺身觀點與贊寧作對照,以見其對捨身供養的解釋。贊寧雖重視佛教與世俗社會的協調,卻在系、通中,對教內、外都飽受爭議的捨身、燒身的宗教行爲,讚揚是無我利他的極致發心,認爲視燒身爲違犯戒律者,是執著於小乘戒法,強調發心的重要性而給予高度的肯定。

From the perspective of religious conduct the most sentimental part of religious compassion is the self-immolation. This article would try to probe the significance of bodily sacrifice by the texts of 《Song Gaoseng Zhuan-chapter of bodily sacrifice》. Comparing the views of Hui-jiao and Dao-xuan to Zanning, the comparative textual research will display the different interpretation of the dedicating by self-immolation. The historian Zanning emphasizes the balance between Buddhism and society, but he also highly confirm the religious conduct: self-immolation, bodily sacrifice by burning, even though they are animadverted in Xi and Tong. Zanning highly praised the importance of altruistic arousal of the thought and the selfless giving is very noble beginning mind. Those who take Self-immolation against percepts are persisting Hinayana vinaya.
