Screening for oral cancer falls under the category of secondary prevention. It reduces not only mortality rates but also the incidence of oral cancer. Hahn's Method for screening oral cancer recommends employing 2 mouth mirrors during the examination of the oral mucosa. This involves beginning the examination from the outer regions of the oral cavity and then systematically progressing through the upper, middle, and lower portions of the oral cavity. By following this approach, every area of the oral mucosa can be thoroughly examined, ensuring that no region is overlooked and minimizing the risk of producing false negative results in oral cancer screening.

口腔癌篩檢屬於次段的疾病預防方法，經由早期發現、早期治療口腔癌及口腔癌前病變，它不只可以降低口腔癌的死亡率，還可降低其發生率，特別是晚期口腔癌的發生率。韓氏口腔癌篩檢法的要點，為依照一個自然而合乎邏輯的順序，由顏面、頸部及口腔前庭等固有口腔的「外部」開始進行檢查，然後進到可算是「內部」的固有口腔，依其上、中、下的順序，在口內使用兩支口鏡依序作一完整無缺的全口檢查。如此，才可檢查到每處需要檢查的所有口腔黏膜部位，避免遺漏任何口內小角落、小部位，因而也可避免造成偽陰性的結果。除了網路上已有作者本人示範操作的錄影影片外，今特撰本文，介紹韓氏篩檢法的特色及施行步驟，以利本法在世界各地更進一步的推廣、應用。
