Implant Sites Development and a Short Dental Implant Installation in Severely Atrophic Ridges-A Case Report

With the progress of science, current dental therapies should not only relieve pain but also meet the functional and esthetic demands of patients. It is difficult and challenging for dentists to accomplish healthy, functional, and esthetic treatment results. Therefore, comprehensive knowledge and plans are crucial prior to the treatment. In complicated situations, interdisciplinary treatments are necessary for ideal treatment outcomes. Implant therapy has become a popular alternative for treating edentulism due to the improvement of materials and techniques. Studies have reported that ridge resorption and remodeling are inevitable after a tooth extraction. The considerations, timing, and methods of implant placement vary with patients’ conditions and requests. A 34-year-old female, with severe ridge resorption and insufficient space for restorations due to long-term edentulism sought treatment. Implant site development, proper implant size selection and prosthetic design contributed the esthetic and functional treatment outcomes.
