Altered Cast Impression Technique for Mandibular Distal Extension Partial Dentures: A Case Report

摘要
The adequate support for distal extension partial dentures is from the relatively rigid abutment teeth and the supportive mucosa. According to Leupold's research, by comparison to altered cast impression technique, one-step custom tray impression technique distorted loose mucosa more horizontally and vertically than two-step impression. In this case report a 69 y/o female received a mandibular class II removable partial denture treatment. After trying the fitness of the metal framework, an individual tray was attached to the distal extension framework and a secondary impression was made to replace the distal extension portion of the master cast. This final altered cast was used to complete the denture fabrication.
