探討芳香療法對於社區老人睡眠品質及憂鬱症狀之成效

摘要


睡眠困擾與憂鬱症狀是老年人常見的心理問題。芳香療法可透過嗅吸和皮膚吸收,刺激副交感神經系統,以達舒緩情緒之功效進。故本研究旨在探討芳香療法對於社區老人睡眠品質及憂鬱症狀之成效。以重複測量,採立意取樣方式,收案地點為居住台灣北部地區65歲以上之社區老年人,總共收案67人。問卷包括匹茲堡睡眠品質指數及老人憂鬱量表,於介入芳香療法前、介入措施後第一個月、介入措施後第三個月收集數據。研究結果顯示,複方精油芳香療法按摩及睡前塗抹薰香嗅吸,可有效改善老年人睡眠品質及憂鬱症狀,且達統計上顯著差異(p<0.05)。該過程簡單且易於老年人自己在家執行,因此它可以作為一種有睡眠障礙或憂鬱症狀之老年人的日常補充與替代療法。

Sleep disturbance and depressive symptoms are common psychological problems among older adults. Aromatherapy can be inhaled and absorbed through the skin to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system to soothe your mood. Therefore, this study aims to explore the effectiveness of aromatherapy on sleep quality and depression symptoms among community-dwelling elderly people. Using repeated measurement and purposive sampling, the cases were collected from community-dwelling older adults over 65 years old living in northern Taiwan. A total of 67 cases were collected. The questionnaires included the PSQI and the GDS, and data were collected before the intervention of aromatherapy, the first month after the intervention, and the third month after the intervention. Research results show that aromatherapy massage with compound essential oils and aromatherapy sniffing before going to bed can effectively improve the sleep quality and depression symptoms of the older adults, and the difference is statistically significant (p<0.05). The process is simple and easy for seniors to perform at home, so it can be used as a daily complementary and alternative therapy for seniors with sleep disorders or symptoms of depression.
