The structures of 1:1 TiCl_4-NC(CH_2)_3CN and 1:1 SnCl_4-NC(CH_2)_3CN are compared: both are in the form of a one-dimentional polymer with the glutaronitrile acting as a bridging ligand between titanium(IV) chloride or tin(IV) chloride units, respectively, while the transition metal atoms are octahedrally coordinated, with the nitrogen atoms in the cis configuration. The glutaronitrile has the TT conformation. Because the structure of 1:1 SnCl_4NC(CH_2)_3CN has been solved at a much lower significance than that of TiCl_4-NC(CH_2)_3CN has, whether or not the two structures are isomorphous needs a redetermination for the structure of 1:1 SnCl_4-NC(CH_2)_3CN.
