Two New Marine Species of Pseudovorticella (Ciliophora, Peritrichia) from Qingdao, North China

並列摘要

Two species of stalked peritrich ciliates, Pseudovorticella faurefremieti n. sp. and P. foissneri n. sp., were found in coastal waters near Qingdao, north China and are described for the first time. Their morphology, infraciliature and silverline system were studied in live cells and staining with silver. P. faurefremieti n. sp. is characterized by a combination of highly elongate body, large size, conspicuous but irregularly shaped pellicular swellings, single, ventrally located contractile vacuole, distinctive number of transverse silverlines, and marine habitat. P. foissneri n. sp. is distinguished by its highly flattened and unsymmetrical body shape, small size, inconspicuous pellicular swellings, two contractile vacuoles, and marine habitat.
