Choleoeimeria saqanqouri sp. nov. (Apicomplexa: Eimeriidae) Infecting the Gallbladder of Scincus scincus scincus (Reptilia: Scincidae) from Egypt

並列摘要

Undescribed species of tetrasporocystic coccidia was found in the gallbladder of Scincus scincus scincus from South Sinai, Egypt. According to the oocyst morphology and site of infection, the coccidium was assigned to genus Choleoeimeria and described as Choleoeimeria saqanqouri sp.n. The prevalence of the infection was 22.9% (30/131). Oocysts were ellipsoidal and measured 34.8 x 23.4 μm. Sporocysts were dizoic and irregular in shape. The endogenous development was confined to the gallbladder epithelium. Meronts, gamonts and young oocysts were detected. The infected cells were enlarged and displaced above the epithelial layer.
