Pontigulasia pentangulostoma nov. spec., a New Testate Amoeba from the Da Jiuhu Peatland of the Shennongjia Mountains, China

並列摘要

A new testate amoeba Pontigulasia pentangulostoma nov. spec. has been isolated from the Dajiuihu Basin peatland in the Shennongjia mountains, China. A detailed morphological, biometrical and ecological description of Pontigulasia pentangulostoma is presented with light and scanning electron microscopical methods. The main characteristics of the new species are: the aperture with five angles and five borders (like a pentagon), an internal transverse loop, extending from side to side coextensively with the constriction at the junction of the neck and body. Normal size frequency distribution and low coefficients of variation indicate that P. pentangulostoma is a size monomorphic species. Shell width and neck height are the most stable characters (coefficients of variation are 7.99 and 8.61 respectively), whereas the aperture diameter is the most variable (CV=12.03). The finding of this new species is important to the advancement of testate amoebae taxonomy.
