Two New Species of Gregarina Dufour, 1828 (Apicomplexa: Conoidasida) from Orthopteran Insects of West Bengal, India

並列摘要

The description of two new species of cephaline gregarines (Apicomplexa: Conoidasida) of the genus Gregarina Dufour, 1828, obtained from orthopteran insects are given in this paper. These are Gregarina xenocatantopa n. sp. from Xenocatantops humilis (Insecta: Orthoptera: Acrididae) and Gregarina puruliensis n. sp. from Ducetia japonica (Insecta: Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae). Trophozoites of G. xenocatantopa are orange, measuring 156 μm to 222 μm in total length with broadly or shallowly deltoid epimerites. Gametocysts are orange, and broadly orbicular measuring 633 μm × 466 μm in average and sporulate through nine sporoducts. Oocysts are uniform in shape and size and measure 4 μm × 3 μm. In G. puruliensis, trophozoites are elongated, measuring 82 μm-147 μm in total length. Epimerites are globular or orbicular. Gametocysts are white and orbicular measuring 175 μm × 160 μm in average, dehiscing through two long sporoducts. Oocysts are uniform in shape and size, 4.1 μm × 2.3 μm in measurement.
