Temperature and Moisture Induced Degradation in Some Physical and Mechanical Properties of Fire-Retardant Treated of Oriented Strand Boards

溫度與水分引起耐燃處理配向粒片板之數種物理與機械性質的降低

摘要


本報告係探討溫度與水分對耐燃處理杉木及柳杉配向粒片板之數種物理與強度性質之影響。本實驗使用兩種薄片,其中一種薄片噴塗以15%及20%濃度之立安302耐燃劑(為一種硼,氯,硫酸銨與磷之化合物),另一種為未耐燃處理薄片,使用酚甲醛樹脂膠合劑,用膠量為4.5%及6.5%,由傳統式熱壓方式壓製成預定密度為0.5%g/cm^3及0.6%g/cm^3之杉木及柳杉配向粒片板。試驗結果如次:(1)浸潰在70℃熱水2-hr後,用膠量4.5%及6.5%之耐燃處理配向粒片板試片之靜曲強度(MOR)及靜曲彈性係數(MOE)尚可保留乾燥狀態時之50%,但未耐燃處理配向粒片板則有多數試片發生嚴重表面剝離。(2)經ASTM D 5516-94高溫(77℃)/50%相對濕度處理後,未耐燃處理試片之MOR及MOE無顯著變化,但噴塗20%之立安302耐燃處理試片之MOR則會發生本質性的減低。(3)耐燃處理配向粒片板浸水2-hr及24-hr 後之厚度膨脹率會顯著的較未處理配向粒片板為小,而經77℃/50% RH劣化處理後,其厚度膨脹率會隨劣化處理時間增加而呈直線狀減低。

The effects of exposure to elevate the hygrothermal conditions on the some physical and mechanical properties of fire-retardant treated China-fir and Japanese cedar oriented strand boards (OSB) were studied. Two group flakes were prepared from the wood of these two species, one group was sprayed with 15% and 20% Lee-An 302 fire-retardant (a mixture of Boron, chloride, ammonium sulfate and phosphides) and other group was untreated. Conventional hot press was used to fabricate the OSB with resin contents of 4.5%, and 6.5% of liquid phenol formaldehyde. The target densities were 0.5 g/cm^3 and 0.6 g/cm^3. Experimental results are summarized as the follows: (1) For 70℃ hot water for 2-hrs immersed groups, fire-retardant treated specimens fabricated with resin contents 4.5% or 6.5% maintained 50% values of MOR and MOE evaluated at air dried conditions. However, non-fire-retardant treated specimen showed serious peeling in surface flakes. (2) For the groups treated with hygrothermal conditions as specified in ASTM D5516-94, no significant changes of MOR and MOE were observed in non-fire-retardant treated specimens except the China fir groups, sprayed with 20% solution, showed a substantial decrease of MOR. (3) Without the 80-day 77℃/50% RH treatment, thickness swellings due to water absorption, either 2-hr or 24-hr soaking, the FR-treated OSBs were much less than those of non-FR-treated, and they were linearly decreased as a function of treatment duration.
