AA-NC Semi-IPNs Wood Coatings-Effects of AA/NC Compositions on the Properties of Coatings and Films

摘要


本研究係以油溶性三聚氰胺樹脂(MF)、尿素樹脂(UF)及短油型大豆油變性醇酸樹脂(Alkyd),依MF/UF/Alkyd=7.5/22.5/70(重量比),並以對甲苯磺酸為硬化劑(添加量為胺基樹脂重量之10%),調配成之酸硬化胺基醇酸樹脂(AA),再與硝化纖維素(NC)摻合,依連續式聚合而成AA-NC半互穿聚合體網狀結構物(Semi-IPNs)作為木器塗料,探討AA/NC組成對塗料及塗膜性質之影響。試驗結果發現,各種AA-NC semi-IPNs比AA者有較佳的乾燥性且塗料乾燥時間隨NC含量之增加而愈縮短;塗膜硬度、耐磨耗性、拉伸強度及甲醛釋出量等均較AA者為佳,且隨NC含量之增加而愈優良的趨勢;然而,塗膜附著性、破壞伸長率、抗彎曲性及耐衝擊性等則較AA者為差,顯示AA-NC semi-IPNs是一強硬且脆的塗膜。經由耐溶劑性及FT-IR分析,AA-NC semi-IPNs中之AA與NC有互穿作用產生,且以物理性之纏繞結合為主。整體而言,以AA/NC=25/75之AA-NC semi-IPNs有較佳且均衡的塗料與塗膜性質,能配合塗裝工程,適用為木器塗料。

The AA-NC semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs) made from acid-curing amino-alkyd resin (AA) and nitrocellulose (NC) were prepared by sequential polymerization for wood coatings. The AA was formulated by the composition of melamine-formaldehyde resin (MF)/urea-formaldehyde resin (UF)/short-oil type soybean oil modified alkyd resin (Alkyd)=7.5/22.5/70 (by wt. ) and 10% of p-toluenesulfonic acid solution (cone. 25% in isopropyl alcohol) as catalyst was added based on the weight of amino resin. To investigate the effects of AA/NC compositions on the properties of AA-NC semi-IPNs coatings, five kinds of AA/NC compositions i.e. 100/0, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75, and 0/100 were examined in this study. Some major results showed that the drying property of AA-NC semi-IPNs coatings was better than that of AA and the drying time was shorter with increasing NC content. The hardness, abrasive resistance, tensile strength, and released formaldehyde of AA-NC semi-IPNs films .were better than those of AA and these properties were also enhanced with increasing NC. Whereas the adhesion, elongation at break, bending resistance, and impact resistance of AA-NC semi-IPNs films were inferior to those of AA, obviously, a strong, hard, and brittle film of semi-IPNs was formed in this study. The results also indicated that the AA-NC semi-IPNs films had a good and only physical interpenetrating between AA and NC by solvent extraction and FT-IR analysis. From these results, it could be concluded that the AA-NC semi-IPNs with AA/NC=25/75 had an excellent performance and balanced effect on the properties of coatings and films and could readily be used for wood coatings.
