Survey on the Contents of Lead, Copper, Cadmium and Mercury in Grass Shrimp Meat in Hatcheries of Taiwan Area

摘要

115 samples of grass shrimp were collected from thirteen counties or cities which had higher production amount of grass shrimp from November 1984 to July 1985. Contents of lead, copper, cadmium and mercury in edible portion of grass shrimp were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Classified to 13 locations, the highest lead content of grass shrimp meat was 1.153 ppm on the average in Ilan Hsien. The highest mean copper content was 9.207 ppm in Taoyuan Hsien. The highest mean cadmium content was 0.524 ppm in Tainan Hsien, and the highest mercury content was 0.088 ppm on the average in Chiayi Hsien. According to the analysis of variance, the contents of lead, cadmium and mercury were significantly different (p<0.05) among 13 locations. There was no significant difference (p>0.05) among 13 locations in copper content. The overall mean contents of lead, copper, cadmium and mercury in 115 samples were 0.705 ppm; 6.638 ppm; 0.209 ppm; 0.049 ppm, respectively. The mean content of mercury was far below the allowed limit of mercury content in fish and shellfish, 0.5 ppm. The allowed limits of copper, lead and cadmium content have not been determined yet. This result can provide reference for Health Administrations to determine the allowed limit content.
