Total Ash and Acid-Insoluble Ash Determination of Chinese Crude Drugs

In order to understand the Chinese crude drugs which there are no testing items about total ash and acid-insoluble ash in the Patterns of Chinese Medicine of R.O.C.(中華民國中藥典範), We collected 300 samples in 30 kinds of crude drugs from the market and analyzed them by Ch. P. Ⅲ. methods. The results indicated that Lycii Radices Cortex contained the highest total ash (14.07%) and acid-insoluble ash (5.58%); Bletillae Tuber contained the lowest ones (1.68%, 0.27% respectively).
