A total of 390 samples of fowl and eggs were collected from supermarkets and retailed shops of Taiwan during September 1989 to March 1990. Sulfa drugs (including sulfathiazole, Sulfamethazine, Sulfamonomethoxine, Sulfadimethoxine and sulfaquinoxaline) residue in sample were identified by thin-layer chromatography and quantified by high performance liquid chromatography. The result indicated that only 2 samples failed to meet the regulation.
