In order to test whether the supermarkets or hypermarkets provide vegetables and fruits in compliance with pesticide tolerance, 204 samples of vegetables and fruits were collected from packing fields throughout Taiwan in March, May, August and October in 2006. Samples were analyzed by a multi-residue method, in which 136 items of pesticides were monitored. The carbendazim was detected in one Chinese cabbage and one crowndaisy chrysanthemum samples. Besides, ethion was detected in one chili. All three samples violated the tolerance level set by the Department of Health.
