Lindera aggregata Kosterm is a rare species in Taiwan. Flowers are unisexual and dioecious. Axillary inflorescence primordia are initiated in mid-August and anther primordia in staminate flowers are developed in mid-October. The anther is bisporangiate. The wall layers of anther consist of one epidermis layer, one endothecium layer, two middle layers and one tapetum layer, and this anther wall formation pattern belongs to the Basic type. The tapetum is the typical amoeboid type. Microspore mother cells undergo meiosis through successive cytokinesis in early November and give rise to tetrads of microspores, which are mostly isobilaterally arranged and rarely tetrahedrally. Mature pollen grains are 2-celled and about 22-25 μm in size. Anthers dehisce with valves and pollen grains are shed in March.
