This paper was based on previous trees disease survey (2009-2010) in Taoyuan, Changhua, Tainan and Taitung counties. A Total of 333 historical trees (Taoyuan: 63 Changhua: 110, Tainan: 99, Taitung: 61) were classified into 30 species. Ficus microcarpa (52%) and Bischofia javanica (21%) are two major historical trees in these four counties. We identified that seven tree diseases were caused by microorganisms, ten by insect pests and six by physiological disorders. But eight historical trees in Taoyuan and Taitung counties were not determined. In disease issues, wood rots caused by wood-decay fungi, sooty mold and brown root rot occupied higher proportions. For insect pests, thrip, Typhlocyba subrufa and termites were the major problems. For physiological problems, the raised growing bed and cement surface barrier are found to be major factors.
