Field studies and numerical modelling of water quality in Sanmin river, upstream of Shihmen Reservoir I are investigated herein. Water samplings were performed at different locations in the stream reach, and those data are used to obtain the K_1, K_2, K_3 parameters. QUAl2E model is then employed to simulate the change of water quality at different flow conditions in conjunction with those parameters obtained by field studies. The simulated results are reasonable in comparison with the field data. More research is required to explore the mechanism of the biofilm and sediment oxygen demand on the channel bed.
