The development of slope land in Taiwan is taking place rapidly and therefore potential hazard for debris flows is also growing. The identification of these potential hazard areas is very important. This study develops a numerical model utilizing nonlinear constitutive law and fluid conservation laws. Model was tested with analytical solutions and flume test results. The program is further used in field to simulate the debris flow occurred in Shen-Mu village. The simulated result was consistent with field measurements.
