青斑鳳蝶是一種翅中央真有淡藍、半透明帶的黑色鳳蝶。本研究在實驗室中以黃蘭飼養青斑鳳蝶並研究其個體生態學。雌蝶將單一卵粒產在寄主植物嫩葉的背面,產卵行為通常出現在白天。平均卵期3 -4天, 一齡幼蟲之齡期為3 2 -40天。幼蟲的生長與其取食量呈正相關,食物消化效率(AD)隨齡級增加而遞減,食物消化後轉換成體重的效率(ECD)和食物取食後轉換成體重的效率(ECI)則隨齡級增加而減少,因此兩者均與消化效率呈負相關。青斑鳳蝶為一年多生,每年產5-7 代, 以10-2 月間的繁殖力較高。

The common jay, Graphium doson is a black Papiloinid butterfly with a pale blue semi transparent central band. The autecology of the common jay butterfly was studied under laboratory conditions on Michelia champaka. Adult females lays eggs singly on the under surface of tender leaves of the host tree. Oviposition usually took place during the day time. Average incubation period was 3-4 days. Five larval instars were recorded over a period of 16-21 days. Thepupal duration was 12-14 days. The total life cycle lasted for 32-40 days. The larval growth is directly correlated with food consumed. The A.D. (approximate digestibility) values decreased through successive instars. Both ECD (efficiency of conversion of digested food) and ECI (efficiency of conversion of ingested food) values increased, thus bearing an inverse relationship with A.D. This butterfly is a multivoltine species with a minimum of 5-7 generations a year, with better breeding ability during October to February.
