New record of Sagami false swallower Pseudoscopelus sagamianus Tanaka, 1908 (Family Chiasmodontidae) from southern Taiwan

摘要

The swallowerfish genus Pseudoscopelus and species Pseudoscopelus sagamianus Tanaka, 1908 is newly recorded from the southern Taiwan. A total 11 specimens were collected by the bottom trawl from the southwestern Taiwan. The species was previously recognized in scattered localities off Hawaii, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand and central region of the Pacific Ocean. Our specimens also represent the first record in Taiwan. Detailed description and individual variation are provided.
