Evaluation of the efficacy of experimental insecticides in controlling red imported fire ant colonies was made by applying insecticides to individual mounds as bait and as a surface spray. The purpose of this demonstration was to constantly search and screen for insecticides for the control of red imported fire ant. Field trials showed that 0.00015% Fipronil bait 30 g mound^(-1) was significantly effective to control the red imported fire ant individual mound. 0.00015% Fipronil fire ant bait broadcasted at the recommended rate of 1.7 kg per hectare reduced the number of active mounds in small demonstration by 63.9 percent at eight weeks after treatment.
