摘要

The measurement of urinary flow rate is a simple and non-invasive method for screening lower urinary dysfunction. In normal individuals, the urinary flow rate depends on the voided volume in a non-linear fashion. The urinary flow rate is also related to the subject’s age and sex. In this study, uroflowmetry of 352 male students and 168 female students of Kaohsiung Medical College were examined by DISA 2100 Uro-system type 2 C10 Mictiometer. Their ages ranged from 18 to 25 years, with a mean age of 21.8 years. In our study, the peak flow rate was directly related to voided volume. It reached the maximal level when the voided volume was 500-599ml in male students and 400-499ml in female students. The mean value of peak flow rate was 23.4±3.3ml/sec in males and 24.7±2.9ml/sec in females when voided volume was over 100ml. The mean value of peak flow rate was 24.2±3.4ml/sec in males and 27.5±3.1ml/sec in females when voided volume was over 200ml. Generally speaking, uroflowmetry is more reliable when voided volume exceeds 200ml. The peak flow rate of females was slightly higher than that of males in every group, however, there was no significant difference statistically (p>0.05). The ratio of peak flow time to total micturition time was 33.5±8.1ml/sec in males and 36.9±7.2% in females. It means that the male peak was attained faster than the female peak, however, there was no significant difference statistically (p>0.05). In conclusion, it is our hope that the information of these date will be helpful in indexing the degree of bladder outlet obstruction and for postoperative evaluation of this obstruction.
