A Preliminary Study of Health Conceptions Among Married Women

本研究目的在於評估史密斯的四種健康概念模式（Smith’s four models of health）與婦女健康概念的一致性，並探討婦女的年齡、教育程度、職業與自評健康狀況對健康概念的影響。研究對象以方便取樣的方式，包括86位已婚婦女，其中58位取樣自高雄醫學院附設醫院的產後婦女，另28位則取樣自某一社團的媽媽園地之婦女。這些婦女的年齡在24-50歲之間，平均年齡為33歲（標準差＝±6.1 歲）。本研究利用閉鎖式及開放式問卷由兩位訪視員透過家庭訪視的方法以收集資料。研究結果顯示、大多數婦女反應了史密斯四種健康概念模式中的臨床模式（73.3%）。幸福模式，例如執行健康的生活方式，則為第二種常被提到的健康概念模式（53.5%），另外兩種模式，即角色功能與適應模式則鮮為婦女所提及（各為12.8%及4.7%）。若將臨床模式與角色功能模式歸類為消極的健康概念，適應模式與幸福模式歸類為積極的健康概念，利用Chi-Square 統計分析，發現婦女的年齡、教育程度、職業、自評健康狀況均與健康概念無關。

The purpose of this study is to assess the consistency of the dimensions of health identified in the study with Smith’s four models of the meaning of health perception and to determine the variation in health conceptions as related to women’s age, education, employment status and self-rated health status. A convenience sampling was used in this study that included 86 married women between the ages of 24 and 50, with a mean age of 33 years (SD=±6.1). Of 86 women, 58 were from the Kaohsiung Medical College Hospital, and 28 were from Ma Ma Yuan Di, a women’s self-developing club. Interviewing, performed by two research assistants, took place in the women’s homes. The findings indicate that the most frequently mentioned women’s concepts of health support Smith’s clinical model (73.3% of the 86 women).
The eudaemonistic model, which includes the practicing of healthy lifestyles, was the second most frequently mentioned concepts of health (53.5%). The other two models, role-function and adaptive, were seldom mentioned by the women (12.8% and 4.7% respectively). The conceptions of health were divided into two groups. The negative group includes clinical and role- function models, and the positive group includes adaptive and eudaemonistic models. No significant association was found between health conceptions and age, education, employment status and self-rated health status through Chi-Square analysis.
