Tribological Surface Modification for Thrust Bearing in Scroll Compressor

渦卷式壓縮機之止推軸承磨潤表面改質研究

摘要


渦卷式壓縮機中,磨潤特性對於預防止推軸承發生嚴重失效有重大之影響。本研究中,藉由磨耗試驗評估FC25(灰鑄鐵)在未表面改質及經表面改質後的磨潤性能表現。三種表面改質方法分別為鍍碳化釱、氮化處理及噴塗二硫化鉬,鍍層厚度及品質以光學顯微鏡、掃描式電子顯微鏡及電子微探儀進行評估。磨耗試驗以止推墊圈式的磨耗試驗機、在二氧化碳冷媒及PAG潤滑油的環境下進行,滑動速度為4.22公尺/秒,荷重為165公斤及環境溫度125℃。磨耗試驗後,比較各種表面改質試片的耐磨耗能力,並且以掃描式電子顯微鏡分析試片磨耗表面。根據實驗數據得知,經二硫化鉬噴塗處理的FC25具最佳的耐磨耗能力,而鍍碳化釱的FC25,其耐磨耗能力反而比未經表面改質的FC25差。

Tribological characteristic is crucial to prevent catastrophic failure for thrust bearings in scroll compressors. In this study, tribological performances of gray cast iron (FC25) with and without surface modification were evaluated by wear tests. The three types of surface modification methods are TiC coating, nitriding treatment and MoS_2 spraying. Thickness and quality of coatings were determined by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA). Wear tests were conducted by a thrust-washer-type tribometer with CO_2 refrigerant and PAG lubricant oil. A sliding speed of 4.22 m/s, 165 kg normal load and environmental temperature 125°C were applied. After wear tests, wear resistance of specimens was compared and the worn surfaces were characterized by SEM. According to the experimental results, FC25 with MoS_2 coating exhibited superior wear resistance; however, FC25 with TiC coating was inferior to base material FC25.
