Wear Behaviors of Ceramic and Carbide Tools during Turning Martensitic Stainless Steel

陶瓷及硬質合金刀具車削馬氏體不銹鋼的磨損行為研究

摘要


In this paper, we selected nine tools included Al_2O_3/Ti (C, N) ceramic tool prepared by us, other five ceramic tools and three carbide tools. The cutting characteristics of continuous turning 1Cr13 martensitic stainless steel of nine tools were studied, and the cutting performance of them and 1Cr13 workpiece surface roughness were analyzed in cutting speeds vc=100m/min and vc=260m/min. SEM and EDS analysis of these tools were performed after cutting, and the breakage and wear mechanisms was researched. Ceramic tools have better high temperature performance, and Al_2O_3 based ceramic tools more suitable for cutting stainless steel, carbide tools are affected by temperature significantly, and are not suitable for cutting martensitic stainless steel in high speeds.
