摘要

建立「零垃圾社會」是聯合國永續發展的新課題。早在1990年慈濟證嚴法師提出「用鼓掌的雙手做環保」，提倡垃圾減量分類、資源回收再利用。她認為人類的貪婪無知，污染損害了地球，每個人應當節慾淨心，不製造污染，大家一起來做環保，再造人間淨土。「垃圾變黃金，黃金變愛心，愛心化清流，清流繞地球」證嚴上人的開示，正點出了各地慈濟人做環保的意義與功德所在。

”Zero Waste” is becoming the new guiding principle of UN 21 Agenda (sustainable development). Master Cheng Yen, the founder of Tzu Chi Merits Society, first called for environment protection by sorting trash, and collecting recyclables in 1990. She hopes each of us to minimizing our avarice and waste, to preserve a decent environment for our next generation. So far, there are over 44,000 registered environmental protection volunteers around Taiwan. They have collected and sold recyclable materials, ”turn trash into gold” to support and pursuit a zero waste society and a disaster-free world.
