Comparative Study on Pain Responses to Intraarterial (Coronary and Femoral) and Intraperitoneal Injection of Algesic Agents in Dogs

Chen, H. J. and T. F. Huang. Comparative study on pain responses to intraarterial (coronaray and femoral) and intraperitoneal injection of algesic agents in dogs. Chinese L Physiol., 20(3): 173-181, 1969-Pain responses to intrapericardial, intraperitoneal and intraarterial algesic agents were studied in unanesthetized dogs. Bradykinin, KC 1, angiotensin and acetylcholine evoked pain responses when they were injected into the pericardial sac, peritoneal cavity, coronary and femoral arteries respectively. Pain responses were comparable in degrees when bradykinin was injected into the coronary and femoral arteries. KC1 evoked more marked pain responses to intracoronary artery injection than those to intrafemoral artery injection, while pain responses to acetylcholine injection were the reverse of those to KCI injection.
