Degradation of Methyl Orange via lndirect Anodic Oxidation in an Undivided Cell

未隔離式電解槽中間接電分解甲基橙

摘要


本研究是於一未隔離式電解槽中,藉由電化學方法,經氧化還原媒子之催化間接電分解甲基橙之反應。實驗結果証實此間接電分解過程中,甲基橙色澤迅速由橘黃變成橙清,而且影響電分解速率之主要因素有,甲基橙濃度;電流密度;電解質種類;酸鹼值及電極材料,溴化鈉濃度影響小此系統之最佳操作條件為,20 ppm甲基橙,電流密度1.25 mA cm-2,溴化鈉濃度 0.025M,酸鹼值 6.81,使用石墨為陰陽電極。

The degradation of methyl orange (MO) was explored in the presence of redox mediator via electrochemical reaction in an undivided cell. The results revealed that the color of the solution changed from orange to colorless during electrolysis.The main factors affecting the degradation rate of methyl orange were the concentration of methyl orange, the current density, and the kind of electrolyte, the pH, and the electrode materials. A minor factor was the concentration of NaBr. In this system,the maximum value of the degradation rate of MO was 30 mg coul-1 under optimum operating conditions, i.e., the best operating conditions were 20 ppm methyl orange, 1.25 mA cm-2, 0,025 M NaBr, and pH 6.8, using graphite as the anode and cathode.
