Solvent Selection for Gas Antisolvent Precipitation Process

氣體反應劑沈澱製程中溶劑之選取

摘要


本文以二氧化碳作為反溶劑時,探討聯苯在二十種溶劑中沈積的情形。實驗結果顯示有些溶劑雖然在加入壓縮之二氧化碳後,體積會大幅膨脹,但仍無法使聯苯沈積出來。本文提出一會使聯苯沈積之判斷式,即加入壓縮之二氧化碳後,溶劑體積會大幅膨脹,此外溶劑之溶解度參數需大於17MPa1/2,但小於聯苯之溶解度參數21.6MPa1/2。若一溶劑之溶解度參數愈接近聯苯時,會使更多的聯苯沈積出來。因此,對一原本不會使聯苯沈積出來之溶劑而言,可藉由所建立之判斷式,選擇一共溶劑,並決定出共溶劑之添加量,而使得聯苯得以沈積出來。

The precipitation of biphenyl from twenty organic solvents using carbon dioxide as anti solvent was examined in this study. The experimental results showed that even though a large volume expansion of some solvents after the addition of the compressed CO2, biphenyl could not be precipitated due to that CO2 acted as a cosolvent rather than an antisolvent in these operations. The criterion for the precipitation of biphenyl from a solvent was proposed as that the solubility parameter of the solvent should be larger than 17.4 MPa1/2 but smaller than that of biphenyl (21.6 MPa1/2). When the solubility parameter of a solvent was closer to that of biphenyl, more biphenyl was precipitated. For a solvent not causing the precipitation of biphenyl, the proposed criteria can be applied to determine what the other solvent and the minimum amount should be added into the solvent to result in a precipitation.
