The results may be summarized as below. There are 16 species of cruciferous insects were recorded from that island, their features and habits are briefly discussed. Among these pests, due to market necessity, utilization of labour and land, the farmers are usually continuing and overlapping to cultivate these vegetables. For this reason, to break out of turnip aphis Rhopalosiphum pseudobrassicae Davis, turnip flea beetle Phyllotreta vittata Fabricius and some species of caterpillars. Turnip aphis attacks heavily on Brassica pekinensis, B. juncea and Raphanus sativas, turnip flea beetle on local Brassica spp. and Raphanus sativas and some caterpillars on Brassica oleracea. Turnip aphis may be completely controlled by rotenoid emulsion (containing 3.5% crystalline retenone), its effectiveness of dilution is 600-800 times. Turnip flea beetle by 1% gamma B H C dust and the caterpillars by 10% D D T dust. If turnip aphis and caterpillars appeared at the same time, they may be controlled by the spraying of 250-500 times of 25% D D T emulsion. After planting the plants, methods of applying these insecticides and how to gain the most effectiveness, economics and safeness were described respectively.
