Six hundred and thirty seven jack mackerels (including 485 D. kurroides aka-adsi ABE and 152 D. russelli RÜPPELL) were collected at monthly interval from October 1970 to August 1971 in the fishing ground off Nanfanao and Kaohsiung. Stomach contents and digestive system were analyzed. The results revealed as follows: 1. The stomach contents of D. kurroides aka-adsi ABE are similar to that of D. russelli RÜPPELL. Crustaceanes, pisces, mollusks and fish larvae are their major foodorganisms. 2. No significant difference in food organisms between male and female is found. 3. The SCWI of samples from Kaohsiung is greater than those from Nanfanao. 4. The fish measured less than 300 mm in length have greater quantity of food in their stomach, and the larger fish over 300 mm in length have smaller amount of food in their stomach. 5. From studies on gill structure, length and shape of stomach and intestine, the number of pyloric caeca and other parts of visceral organs as well as analyses of stomach contents, D. kurroides aka-adsi ABE and D. russelli RÜPPELL are considered to be omnivorous fish.
