Penaeus monodon mysis second substage(M2)were exposed to 30℃,35 pptseawater having different concentrations of ammonia(24,12,6 and 0.12 mg/Lammonia-N)at 6.4,7.3,8.2 and 9.1 of pH levels.Ammonia toxicity was thehighest at pH 9.1 and with a decreasing order of 6.4,7.3 and 8.2 at all concentrationstested. It indicated that NH3 was the toxic form as the pH was higherthan 8.2.However,ammonia toxicity did not decrease when pH level droppedto 6.4 from 8.2 due to an increased percentage of NH(superscript +)4 in a given ammonia.
