An experiment of 4×5 factorial arrangement of treatments;4 freezestorage durations(0,1,2,and 3 months)and 5 centrifugal forces(31.3,125,500,1,125,and 2,000G),each with 2 replicates, was conducted to find out theeffects of freeze storage duration and centrifugal force on inorganic nitrogen:ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate content in interstitial water of submergedsediment.Nitrate decreased and ammonia increased with storage duration.Nitrite was not affected by storage duration.Dissimilatory reduction pathwaymay still proceed during frozen storage.Only nitrite was affected by thecentrifugal force.Low transmittance of the interstitial water at low centrifugalforce resulted in high nitrite measurement. The bias is pronouncedat low nitrite concentration.
