Notes on the Relationship between Aperture Length and Weight of Freshwater Snails

Most of the time, both the weights and the lengths of shells are used to estimate the sizes of freshwater snails. However, the estimation would be mistaken on some shells such as Thiara tuberculata, whose shell tips are usually damaged during the growth. In this note we found in snails there are significantly relationships between aperture lengths and both shell lengths and weights, respectively. These results give us alternative characters to estimate the sizes of snails.
