金門島上覆紅土的開發利用

Exploitation and Utilization of the Lateritic Soil on Chinmen Islands

摘要


本研究包括下列工作:1.瞭解金門島上覆紅土之開發利用方向。2.由紅土中提選紙業級填充料高嶺土之方法。3.建立先導工廠之操作流程。經由本研究顯示:由紅土中可提出(1)紙業級高嶺土、(2)釉藥用及鑄造用特級石英砂、及(3)一般瓷土。而第(1)項產品之獲得主要在有效分離出細於10μm的高嶺土及提昇此一高嶺土之白度。本研究曾採多種方法進行白度提昇試驗,結果顯示,以2N鹽酸,90℃時最為有效。將高嶺土浸漬4至6小時後可獲得80%(75G.E)以上之白土。84%白度也為此等高嶺土可獲得之白度極限。經由本研究此一紅土將可完全加以利用。

The study consists of three tests: 1. To allocate the possible uses of the lateritic soil on Chinmen Islands. 2. To find methods of beneficiating the soil for paper-filler grade kaolinite. 3. To prepare a flow-sheet of beneficiation in order to conduct a pilot-plant test in the future. The study concludes that the lateritic soil can be a source of providing (1) kaolinite powders for paper industry, (2) high-quality quartz sand for ceramic glaze and foundry, and (3) china clay used in traditional porcelains. The paper fillers can be obtained by separating the -10μm portion (mainly kaolin minerals) from the soil accompanied by a bleaching process in which the separated material is treated with 2N HCl solution and heated at 90°C for 4- to 6- hrs. The whiteness of the beneficiated clay is above 80% (75 G. E.), 84% (80 G. E.) being the optimum. The study also points out the lateritic soil can be fully utilized.
