The purpose of this case study is to evaluate hydrocarbon potential for the M-lease in the OX-field by using conventional electrical well logs. The M-1, M-5, and M-7 well electrical logs, which include only spontaneous-potential (SP) and conventional resistivity logs, are used to derive formation correlations and hydrocarbon potential for the M-lease. M-lease formation correlation starts from the M-1 well which was tested for several reservoirs and produced from the Topanga Formation (5789 ft to 5834 ft) and the Sespe Formation (6049 ft to 6270 ft). The well log characteristics of the Topanga TS 1 and TS 2 producing reservoirs are used exclusively in formation correlation for producing zones in the Topanga Formation. Results from this study indicate that hydrocarbon potential zone exists at 5459 ft to 5499 ft depth near the M-5 well.
