The purpose of this study is to investigate the groundwater resource management in aquifer 2-2 in Changhua, Taiwan. The MODFLOW code was firstly applied to simulate 2-D groundwater flow pattern in order to find out the suitable hydrogeological structure and hydraulic parameter in situ. The method of response matrix was then used to manage this aquifer. The hydrogeological data, for instance, the distribution for well, the strength of discharge and the change of discharge, were used for calibration in order to obtain the best value of pluse and response matrix. Finally, the combined simulation optimization approach was applied to get the model for groundwater resource management. Several simulation cases of discharge and recharge management are provided and discussed.
