The development of an integrated decision support system to assist in drought management (called DMDSS) is presented in this paper. Decision making in drought management relies on the information of hydrological analysis, drought mitigation alternatives and social-economical response. A decision support system with the advantages of the automation and integration capabilities can provide the decision-makers a promising tool in helping the drought management. Through a user-friendly interface, the decision-makers can be well informed in an interactive manner. By using expert system, the DMDSS model also incorporates the heuristic expertise of experts. The expert system aids in interpreting the model results and uses heuristic expertise to recommend drought management plans. The case study of DMDSS prototype is the drought management at the Science-Based Industrial Park at Hsinchu (SBIP).
